In Spanish, when asking the elderly to dance, it's important to use the correct verb conjugation for formal situations. This concept is completely foreign in English; you is "you" in all situations. But in Espanol, to use the incorrect "you" is rude and offensive. This can only be learned the hard way.
So, when you say to an elderly person, "tu puedes bailar con yo y mis amigos," you are being rude and should really say, "Puede Usted bailar con yo y mis amigos."
